Nemo 33
Nemo 33 is an indoor Dive Center, which has the deepest artificial diving pool in the world with the 35 m deep pool. It is located in the center of Uccle / Ukkel, in the southeastern part of the Brussels region of Belgium. The Dive Center was opened in 2004.
Nature
The pool, which is tiled like a swimming pool, houses a consisting of several layers frame. The layers are arranged in different depths. In shallow entry area there is a 1.3 m and a 2.5 m deep level. Purpose and Name
The complex was designed by Belgian diving specialists John Beernaerts as a multi-purpose center for divers. It is intended for recreational divers, but also for diving courses and as Filmproduktionsort for underwater scenes.
The name Nemo 33 is derived from Captain Nemo, Jules Verne's novel a character in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The 33 does not refer to the 33 m depth of the dip bath. Unlike the leaves 33 suspect in the name, the bottom of the diving pool is not in 33 m, but in 35 m water depth.
