Nena is published on 14 January 1983 first studio album by the German band Nena and also the name of its routes. The album contained the hit song 99 Red Balloons, who joined in late 1983 in the U.S. charts and reached there in March 1984 as the first German title in second place.

Background

The album was recorded in Spliff Studio, the Studio of the formation Spliff, in Berlin. As a producer Manfred Praeker and Reinhold Heil has been committed; both were a member of Spliff, healing also produced the following two albums Nena, ? (Question mark) and fire and flame. The cover photographed Jim Rocket, who was manager of the band at the same time.

Three singles were released, namely the 1982 pre-release only dreamed, and in 1983 99 balloons and lighthouse.

Reception

99 balloons rose in December 1983 in the U.S. singles charts and reached on March 3, 1984 # 2 on the charts. Nena was in 1983 awarded a gold record and a platinum record in Germany, the album was number one on the charts, where it was able to hold 9 weeks. Also, 99 balloons reached the top position on the German charts, only dreamed reached 1982 2nd place, and lighthouse also.
