Großschuppiger lantern fish ( Neoscopelus macrolepidotus )

Laternenzüngler ( Neoscopelidae ) are a family of small deep-sea fish. They live in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean at greater depths 250-1400 m. About the lifestyle of Laternenzüngler almost nothing is known.

Features

Laternenzüngler be 20 to 30 inches long. They have a laterally compressed occupied with original roundhouse body. Only Solivomer arenidens has comb scales. The anal fin starts behind the end of the dorsal fin. The genus has Neoscopelus along the bottom of the head to the neck of the tail fin and the tongue edge oval light organs, the other genera are without photophores. The genus Scopelengys has no swim bladder, very small eyes and a weak muscle. She seems to have as many other deep-sea fish, a very slow way of life.
