Nepalis in Germany

Nepalese in Germany are immigrants, refugees and expatriates from Nepal and German Nepalese origin. Most of them live in the city of Munich and are considered relatively well integrated. Overall, more than 4,000 Nepalis live in Germany. Smaller minorities also live in the cities of Göttingen, Berlin and Hamburg. Most of them have mastered the German language in addition to their Nepali language and are mostly followers of Hinduism and Buddhism.

History of Migration

Hundreds of Nepalese migrated from Nepal to Germany to find political asylum, where they fled before either the Maoists or the police. A smaller group of Nepalese entrepreneurs and international students also traveled to Germany to do business and educate yourself higher.

Dissemination

There are several 200 Nepalis who live in and around Munich; there is also a small but significant community of students who study medicine, languages and other subjects and therefore remain as Nepalis in Germany. So there is also a Nepalese restaurant in Munich and a Nepalese school.

Munich is also the home of a Nepalese temple garden, which is known as the Pagoda of Nepal. The center of the garden is a hand carved pagoda. As in Nepal is the nine-meter high pagoda on a plateau. The Tempelfigurinen flanking the banister, are like the temple bell, mounted in the pagoda.
