Nephi Jensen

Nephi United States Centennial Jensen ( born February 16, 1876 in Salt Lake City, Utah Territory, † September 2, 1955 ) was an American lawyer, politician and missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints.

Life

Nephi Jensen was born in 1876 as son of Danish immigrants in Salt Lake City in present-day Utah. He attended public schools, and from 1895 to 1896 the L. D. S. College in Salt Lake City. Beginning of 1898 he was active as a missionary in the Southern States Mission and came in February 1898 in Florida used. After more than two years, he returned to Utah, where he arrived in Salt Lake City on July 3, 1900. Jensen has now worked as a school teacher in Arizona. There he met his future wife, whom he married on 9 April 1902. After marrying Jensen returned with his wife back to Utah and continued his work as a teacher continued. In 1903 his son was born. Around 1906 Jensen studied at the University of Utah. Soon after, was admitted to the Bar. In 1908 he studied at the College of Law in Chattanooga. After he received his degree, he returned to Salt Lake City and worked from 1911 to 1913 as assistant attorney in Salt Lake County. In addition, he worked at the law firm Marks & Jensen. In 1919 he was appointed as mission president of the newly formed Canadian mission of his Church. On his return to Utah Jensen started practicing as a lawyer again in Salt Lake City. In 1928 he gave up on this and was county judge for Salt Lake County. Five years later he went into retirement.

Jensen belonged from 1907 to 1909 as a Republican to the House of Representatives from Utah.
