Nereo Laroni

Nereo Laroni ( born September 2, 1942 in Venice) was from 1985 to 1987 socialist mayor of Venice, sparking Mario Rigo from. Since 1989 he is a member of the European Parliament, since 2005 the Council of the Veneto region.

Laroni was Assessore ai lavori pubblici and thus responsible for public works in Venice. He supported Bettino Craxi and Gianni De Michelis and was chosen for the Partito Socialista Italiano 1985 mayor. 1987 Laroni pleaded for the abolition of the Venice Carnival. 1989 to 1994 he was a member of the European Parliament. There, he was Vice President of the Delegation for relations with Yugoslavia, then for relations with the group of states Egypt, Palestine / Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq ( Mashreq ). He is also a member of various committees.

In 2000, he joined the Nuovo Partito Socialista Italiano, a merger of the Partito Socialista and the Lega Socialista. In the regional elections of 2005 he was elected to the Consiglio del Veneto Regional, where he supported the President Giancarlo Galan. In 2010 he was re-elected as supporters of Luca Zaia, a partisan Silvio Berlusconi.
