Neryl acetate is a naturally occurring chemical compound. The ester of Nerols with the empirical formula C12H20O2 and the IUPAC name is a colorless to pale yellow liquid cis-3 ,7 -dimethyl-2 ,6- octadiene -1 - yl acetate. Neryl acetate is present in orange oil and gives him along with octyl acetate and other compounds its flavor. Neryl acetate has a sweet, floral, reminiscent of oranges and roses smell; the ester is used as an odor component in perfumes.
