Neti (Hatha Yoga)

Neti (Sanskrit, f, नेती, neti ) refers to the cleaning of the nose by one of the so-called Shatkriyas of Hatha Yoga. There are two major different cleaning techniques but often practiced consecutively. In Sutra Neti a thread ( sutra ) through the nose and out the mouth is drawn ( in modern versions will also place the thread a catheter used). This mucous membranes are stimulated in the throat and nose, which should lead to better blood circulation and improve the function of these organs. The yarn may be pre- oiled, in order to provide a pleasant experience.

Because of the risk of injury this practice should only be practiced under the expert guidance of an experienced yoga teacher.
