Netizen

Netizen ( rare: Netcitizen ) is a term for " residents " of the Internet and is made up of the English terms "Net" as shorthand for "Network" (Network) and "Citizen " ( citizens) together. Increasingly, the term eingedeutschte netizens used.

The term goes back to Michael Hood, who thus joined the responsible Contribute in the social sphere of the Internet.

In Asia, the term is particularly widespread in the blogosphere. It expresses the self-understanding of internet users as members of a global community that regulates itself to a certain extent themselves and their own set of rules assigns. One form of this is for example the netiquette.
