Netjeraperef

Netjeraperef was a high ancient Egyptian official under king Sneferu (about 2670-2620 BC) in the 4th dynasty. He is known from his mastaba at Dahshur and a stele from Dahshur. The stele was found built into a later period, but comes with high probability from the Mastaba. Netjeraperef was long known only by his stele was found at Dahshur in excavations of Ahmed Fakhry. On this monument he wears different titles, such as Head of the tribes of Upper Egypt and is known primarily as a king's son, which gives rise to various speculations were, there was not sure whether he was entitled as an honorary rank or title, or whether he was actually a prince. Even his dating was controversial. Excavations of the German Archaeological Institute Cairo Dahshur, however, the remains of a mastaba were found to be associated with high probability the Netjeraperef. The reliefs of the building are badly damaged and the owner's name is not completely preserved, but there are hieroglyphics residues indicate the name Netjeraperef. The Mastaba dated with certainty in the 4th dynasty. Netjeraperef was therefore probably a son of Sneferu. From this mastaba also dates the stele, whose foundations were found there.
