Venefica tentaculata

The Entenschnabelaale ( Nettastomatidae ) ( Greek, netta, nessa = duck, stoma = mouth) live in tropical and subtropical areas of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean through mud floor.

Features

Entenschnabelaale be 20 to 110 inches long. You have 190-280 vertebrae and a very elongated shape. The head is long and narrow. The mouth large and deeply divided. The tongue has grown extensively. The tail is long and pointed. For all species, except those of the genus Hoplunnis, adult animals have no pectoral fins. Entenschnabelaale plant probably continue throughout the year. The larva of a species was described as Leptocephalus longirostris as an independent species.

Entenschnabelaale are fossil evidence for the middle Eocene. They should be most closely related to the genus Uroconger from the family of conger eels ( congers ).
