Networked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol

Networked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol ( NTRIP ) is the name given to a now standardized by the Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services ( RTCM ) method differential GPS (DGPS) data over the Internet to distribute. NTRIP was in September 2004 as " RTCM Recommended Standards for Networked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol ( NTRIP ), Version 1.0 " are enabled. Although it was originally intended only as a means for the transport of RTCM ( a DGPS format), the format is now used for a variety of navigation-related data.

NTRIP is based on the Hypertext Transfer Protocol HTTP/1.1 and thus allows a relatively easy use even in very restrictive network segments (intranet, firewall, ...). The simplicity of the protocol and the disclosure of the program source codes have led to broad acceptance. Was developed by the German Ntrip Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy ( BKG, Frankfurt am Main ) and the computer science Centrum Dortmund.

The data transmission of DGPS corrections and other data over the Internet geodetic gradually dissolves other methods, such as RASANT from. One main reason is the high flexibility combined with falling costs (especially in the mobile sector).

After decision of the Working Group Spatial Reference of the German Association of Surveying Authorities of the States ( AdV ) is to be used as a notation no longer " NTRIP " but " NTRIP ".
