The castle Neuberk ( German Neuberg ) is a ruined hill fort in podhradí in the Czech Republic.

History

The Neuberg Castle is eponymous for the family of Neuberg. It is first mentioned in 1288. Due to the depredations of local nobles against the imperial city of Eger, Charles IV destroyed the castle, which was built shortly afterwards, whereupon continued the raids. In 1327 the Neuberger transferred the Bohemian King John their rich free possession and received him back as a fief. The property was passed in 1392 to the family of Zedtwitz over. After the Thirty Years War, the castle remained uninhabited and fell into disrepair. Remains and is mainly a round tower, which rises on a rocky cliff overlooking the village. In the immediate vicinity are the ruins of the castle in 1902 spent shell ( Horni zámek ), are obtained from the extensive ruins.
