Neubeuern is a market in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim. The resort at the entrance of the Inn valley was chosen in 1981 as the most beautiful village in Germany. The picturesque market square with a tower, historic Alpine facades forms the center of the village. The Neubeuern Castle houses the renowned, the same boarding school.

Neubeuern is located on the right bank of the Inn about 12 km south of Rosenheim and 26 kilometers north of Kufstein. The market is located at the foot of Samer mountain, the north-western elevation of the Chiemgau Alps, and is relatively conveniently located just 4 kilometers from the National Highway 8 (junction tube village ) and 5 kilometers from the National Highway 93 (Exit Reischenhart ) away.

History

788 made by the initial documentary mention. Neubeuern was before 1800 a closed seat of the Counts of Hofmark Preysing. Neubeuern owned since 1383, the market law with extensive own rights. The merger with the community Altenbeuern took place on 1 January 1970.

In the castle hill length cuts down on about 300 meters, 20 meters wide and 30 meters deep, "Wolf Canyon " a - a quarry from the first half of the 15th century, were reduced in the millstones and grindstones from the fine-grained quartzite. Part of the south wall collapsed later. This landmark Geotop can be entered above the gorge at your own risk due to loose trees.

Located about 1.5 km east hamlet Hinterhör one also finds an interesting historical millstone quarry.

Schloss Neubeuern

Schloss Neubeuern is a nationally recognized, scientific- technological and modern languages grammar school with boarding and day school for girls and boys boarding school foundation. Housed it is in Neubeuern castle. Currently about 200 students attend the school, of which about 120 live in the boarding school. The boarding school founded in 1925, is one of the most famous in Germany.
