Neues allgemeines deutsches Adels-Lexicon

New general Deutsches Adels- Lexicon is the title of a historical reference work of Ernst Heinrich Kneschke about the German nobility. The work was published in nine volumes from 1859 to 1870 when Friedrich Voigt in Leipzig. The first subscriber was King John of Saxony.

Purpose of the publication was loud preface of the first volume, the " sighting, supplement and compilation " of the material on the families of the nobility, " by name, and initially the same for quickly and easily Gebrauche in the interests of the nobility and the story, like the story at all, the all-important statistics, genealogy and heraldry etc. "

Listed are the families according to the alphabet of the family name. The New General nobility Lexicon has been to 1942, continued by the Gotha Genealogical pocket books of the nobles houses.
