Neufahrn–Radldorf railway

The railway line Neufahrn - Radldorf is a 26-km single-track branch line from nichtelekrifizierte Neufahrn along the Little Laber after Radldorf in Lower Bavaria. It is part of the 46 km long Gäubodenbahn Neufahrn about Straubing to bow.

Streckenbau

The private Royal privileged Actiengesellschaft the Bavarian Ostbahnen opened on November 3, 1858 the first section of its railway line Munich -Regensburg from Munich to Landshut. The Eastern Railway Company drove the ongoing construction to Regensburg and Straubing ahead vigorously, so that even on 8 November 1859 limited transport of goods between Straubing and Landshut could be established. On December 12, 1859, the route from Landshut Geiselhöring was opened to Straubing, which was extended to Passau on 20 September 1860. From Geiselhöring the section was also on 12 December 1859 in Regensburg in operation. Thus the Labertallinie Geiselhöring over the middle part of the main railway line from Munich to Regensburg and Passau had become and the Geiselhöring station to the Eastern Bavarian railway junction with eleven tracks and a large locomotive depot.

The construction of the shortcut route Neufahrn after Oberstraubing in the years 1870 to 1873 the line from Landshut to Regensburg was significantly shortened. Also in 1873 they built the shortcut route from Straubing to Sünching, making the trip to Geiselhöring and the local head making was unnecessary for a trip from Regensburg to Passau and a railway triangle between Geiselhöring, Straubing and Sünching arose. The Eastern Railway line and its successor from 1875, the Bavarian State Railways urged to abandon the path of Geiselhöring after Sünching. With petitions to various locations Geiselhöring sought the further loss of importance of the Geiselhöringer station avert.

The connection Perkam - Radldorf

The opening of the railway line Landshut platform Ling in 1880 the importance of the route of Neufahrn to Straubing was significantly decreased. The state railway was looking now for a way to resolve the complex triangle track between Geiselhöring, Straubing and Sünching.

Instead of the two branches of Geiselhöring to Straubing and after Sünching you wanted to build a medium-range. In contrast, the Laber Messenger protested in an article of 29 December 1893. Said track course would merely produce longer travel times and higher fares.

The state railway looked at several options and finally decided on the construction of a 2.47 km long stretch of Perkam after Radldorf with bridging the Little Laber. The track construction was approved by the Law of 8 March 1894 and conducted in summer 1896. On September 26, 1896, the test drive and on September 30, the opening ceremony took place.

Downgrade to branch line

This marked the end of the line from Geiselhöring after Sünching and the old route via Pilling to Straubing was connected. The old station of Perkam and pilling were sold. The Laber bridges were blown up in Geiselhöring for training purposes later by the military. Another critical decision was the downgrading of the existing mainline Neufahrn - Straubing for secondary railway Neufahrn - Radldorf. The protests of the affected communities led to an improvement of the timetables, fares and reduced to the arrangement to allow the new link only over-and underpasses, but no rail level crossings.

By the railway construction Radldorf after the removal of Geiselhöring to Straubing increased from 15.6 km to 17.3 km and from Geiselhöring about Radldorf after Sünching from 9.0 km to 14.3 km. A letter of 4 October 1902 Straubinger Tageblatt provides insight about the conditions during a run towards the end of the hop harvest in the Hallertau, as a licensed for 33 seats car was occupied by 42 people. At the same time it is evident that in 1902 on this track coaches wrong with stove heating from 1870, as the writer complained about the " sooty darkrooms ".

Current operating

The railway route is claimed since 2002 under the name Gäubodenbahn Neufahrn about Straubing to bow with DMUs Class 628 from Monday to Friday every hour and from Saturday to Sunday every two hours between the end Neufahrn and bow. The Gäubodenbahn runs between Radldorf and Straubing on the railway line Regensburg -Passau and finally on the remaining part of the former railway line Straubing- Miltach to bow. Another pair of trains will be extended over the weekend Landshut and Mühldorf to Salzburg. On the entire route the tariffs of the DB AG apply. There is also a day ticket Gäubodenbahn, district Straubing-Bogen on the Gäubodenbahn and in city traffic Straubing buses and trains may be used with the.

In Niederlindhart and Laberweinting are still standing in 1859, built by the Eastern Railroad Company in country style station building in fair condition today. The huge station building in Neufahrn was built by the Eastern Railroad Company on the occasion of the construction of the shortcut route to Regensburg. From the originally large station building in Geiselhöring only two components are preserved.
