Geographical Location

It lies at the Inn, two kilometers north of the famous pilgrimage town of Altötting, about 70 km north of Salzburg, 80 km southwest of Passau and almost 100 km east of Munich.

History

The place Oetting was first mentioned in the year 748 and was in the 9th century Carolingian royal palace. Place and the Palatinate were destroyed in an invasion of Hungary 907. The reconstruction took place in two locations: the rebuilt at one point settlement is now called Altötting, while today's Neuoetting developed at the same time on a well -defended mountain terrace above the Inn scale trading city.

The city could develop well Thanks to its convenient location at the junction of the road from Regensburg to Salzburg over the Inn. In the 13th century, the dukes of Bavaria Neuoetting chose a city of residence, they gave the place a city charter in 1321. Neuoetting also became the seat of a coin that existed from 1240 to 1486. Attractions
