Neuses–Weißenbrunn railway

The railway line Neuses - Weissenbrunn in Upper Franconia branched off at Neuses, a southern district of Kronach, of the Franconian Forest Railway. The single-track branch line of the 1435 mm gauge ( standard gauge ) was not electrified. She was decommissioned in 1995.

After the completion of the Franconian Forest Railway in 1885, the first request was directed in 1899 by the construction of a spur track after Weissenbrunn to the government in Munich. But only in 1907 was followed by the approval of a freight train. On 26 June 1908, granted to the planning and construction of the secondary path with the local railway law the permit. Because of problems with the land acquisition, the construction was delayed until 1914, the opening was due to the First World War not take place until August 1, 1916.

By the year 1947 drove a freight train on the track a couple of days. From May 1947 to May 1954 there was a passenger service because of a new hospital in Weissenbrunn. This consisted initially of three weekday pairs of trains, from 1950 also drove two pairs of trains on Sundays. The journey time was 12 minutes, from Kronach about 30 minutes.

The freight traffic continued until mid-1960 on weekdays from two pairs of trains, the mid-1980s there were three trains per week. On 24 September 1994 the route was provisionally, finally closed down on 1 March 1995.
