Neustift bei Güssing is a municipality with 497 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Güssing in Burgenland in Austria.

The Hungarian name of the village is Újtelep.

Geography

The community is located about 8 kilometers from the town of Güssing in Burgenland.

History

Neustift already existed at the time of the first foundation for the letter Dominum Güssinger castle in the year 1428. Donation In this letter, as in other documents of the place Gederfew, or after the later spelling Gödörfö means. The first German designation Neustift comes in a German document from the year 1604 ago, and in the Pfarrmatrikeln the toponym of 1669 Noistift, Nuistift, Neistift and Neustift is written. The place was like the rest of Burgenland to 1920/21 Hungary ( German West Hungary). Since 1898, had to be used because of Magyarization the government in Budapest the Hungarian name Újtelep. After the end of World War II German West Hungary was awarded in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919 Austria after tough negotiations. The place belongs since 1921 to the newly founded State of Burgenland (see also history of Burgenland ).
