Neutscher Höhe

The Neutscher height is a mountain pass in the Odenwald and refers to a road crossing over the running in a north-south direction ridge, followed by the historical Hutzelstraße. The Neutscher height lies on the border of the districts of the municipality Neutsch Modautal in the East and upper Beersbach the community Seeheim- Jugenheim in the West, both located in the district of Darmstadt- Dieburg in Hesse.

Geographical location

South of the unforested Neutscher height of the ridge continues to rise. The unlucky head in the south reaches 371.2 meters and 373.7 meters of Segetskopf in the southeast. Two kilometers south of Neutscher height of ridge culminates in the 405 -meter high wooded Allert Hofer fir. The Neutscher height is a destination for hikers and cyclists. In clear weather, you can not just up the mountain road and the Hessian Ried, but also Hanau or Frankfurt skyline seen from here. About the Neutscher height leads E1 and the European long-distance path.

Wind farm

On the hill there is a wind farm with five wind turbines. Three plants of the type Tacke TW 600 were taken in October 1994 by Odenwald Wind GmbH in operation. These were for the first wind farm in southern Germany. 2011, two much larger and more powerful turbines of the REpower MM92 were eventually built, one of which is operated by the energy cooperative Starkenburgring eG.
