New Atlantis

" The New Atlantis " (engl. "The New Atlantis" ) is the title of a fragmentary utopian work of Francis Bacon. It was published in 1627 - a year after the death of the author - in Neo-Latin language. Bacon laid down therein, among others, his idea of a modern research institute. New Atlantis is the first modern utopia that explicitly invokes both the title and in the text on Plato's Atlantis. However, previously, some authors such as Thomas More ( Utopia ) or Tommaso Campanella (La città del Sole ) Plato's description had taken as a model for their utopian works. Bacon Atlantis rises while the historical fact to give their own story more credibility. He identifies Atlantis - a widely held view in his time ( approximately at Las Casas or Fracastoro ) following - with America. This " old Atlantis" was once lost in the disaster described by Plato, however, some residents could have saved on the "New Atlantis", the ( fictional ) South Sea island of Bensalem.
