New Iran Party

The Iran Novin Party or party New Iran (Persian حزب ایران نوین ) was a party in the Empire of Persia, which was founded in 1963 by Hassan Ali Mansur and his friends.

History

The original name of the party was to 1965 Progressive Association. In the parliamentary elections in September 1963, the party of the New Iran won the majority of seats (140 out of 200 in the Majlis ) from the People's Party ( Mardom ). The former ruling party Melliun was replaced by the New Iran by the Prime Minister Hassan Ali Mansur party.

Government posts were only awarded to members of the Iran Novin. This led to the result that more and more parliamentarians switched from the People's Party for Iran Novin. For Mohammad Reza Shah, this development was positive. So it was possible for him to concentrate all political forces in a party.

The party of the New Iran won the parliamentary elections in 1967 with a majority of 180 of the 219 seats, and the elections in 1971, 1968, 230 out of 268 parliamentary seats. On March 2, 1975, the Shah announced that the current two-party system outdated and for the future political development was not efficient enough. Therefore, it should in future only be a political party, in which both government as well as opposition forces were represented. The Iran Novin was thus united with the People's Party for Rastachiz party.
