New Mexico Senate

The Senate of New Mexico (New Mexico State Senate ) is the upper house of the New Mexico Legislature, the legislature of the U.S. state of New Mexico.

The chamber of parliament is composed of 42 Senators representing an electoral district in each case. Each of these units includes a fixed average rate of 43,300 inhabitants. The senators are elected for four -year terms. The meeting room of the Senate is located together with the House of Representatives in the New Mexico State Capitol in Santa Fe district.

Tasks of the Senate

The Senate from New Mexico in the fall as upper houses in other states and territories, as well as in the U.S. Senate compared to the House of Representatives special tasks that go beyond the law. Structure of the chamber

This is elected by the majority party of the Senate and later confirmed by the chamber. Current Lieutenant Governor and President of the Senate is Republican John Sanchez, president pro tempore of the Democrat Timothy Jennings from the 32nd constituency.

For Majority Leader ( Majority leader) of the Democrats, Michael Sanchez, 29 constituency, elected; Leader of the opposition (minority leader) is the Republican Stuart Ingle from the 27th electoral district.
