New Mexico State Road 597

New Mexico State Road 597 ( NM 597 ) is a nearly 720 m long country road in the area of the Navajo Nation in San Juan County in the U.S. state of New Mexico. The highway connects U.S. Highway 160 (U.S. 160 ) to the Four Corners Monument to the border with Arizona, Utah and Colorado. This is the second shortest state highway in the state, only the shorter NM 446, which has a length of about 400 meters.

Route description

NM 597 begins at a T - intersection with U.S. 160 in the extreme northwest of San Juan County. Takes you through desert-like area in a northwesterly direction to its end point at a tollbooth. The two-lane country road goes on after the toll station in the 4 Corners Road, which encircles the Four Corners Monument. The signposted on the NM 597 speed limit is 15 mph ( 24 km / h).
