History

It was founded on 16 March 2008 by former members of the Democratic Workers' Party of Korea, due to the rising nationalism within the party and other persons who were not previously politically organized.

The two leaders of the New Progressive Party are Sim Sang- jeong and Roh Hoe- chan, who sat in 2004 for the Democratic Workers' Party of Korea in Gukhoe ( Korean parliament). In recent Korean elections in 2008, the New Progressive Party just missed the entry into the South Korean parliament at 2.9%.
