Newbridge chariot

The car grave of Newbridge was discovered in 2001 in the development of an industrial estate in Newbridge west of Edinburgh.

This is the first discovery of a car tomb in Scotland. His age was dated with radiocarbon to about 520-370 BC. Unlike the car tombs found in East Yorkshire the car was not broken here, but along with its owner or his owner had been buried as a whole. This suggests, together with structural similarities to cars that have been found in northern France or Belgium, a close connection of the Iron Age Scotland with continental Europe.

The grave is located about 200 m south of the much older Huly Hill Cairn.
