Newport (New South Wales)

Newport is a suburb in the north of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia. Newport is located 31 kilometers north of the city center in the administrative area ( LGA) Pittwater Council.

In 1880 the area was first called Newport, as Charles Jeannerett and George Pile on the headland built a shipyard and the Newport Hotel. Jeannerett made ​​day trips, either by carriage or by boat from Manly in Sydney, popular. With an increasing number of visitors, the place was bigger and there were new houses, especially near the beach added.
