Newry

Newry (Irish: An tiur, dt: " the yew " ) is the fourth largest city of Northern Ireland, about 8 kilometers north of the border with the Republic of Ireland. It was founded in 1144 near the Cistercian monastery of Newry Abbey and is one of the oldest towns in Northern Ireland. The eponymous yew, which was allegedly planted by St. Patrick still burned 1162nd

On July 29, 2010, a little piece of history was written when released the Government of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland with the " Newry bypass " the last missing piece of the motorway connection M1 between Dublin and Belfast for traffic in Newry.
