News and Letters Committees

News & Letters ( messages and letters ) is a social revolutionary magazine in the U.S. and among the world's most prominent publications of the humanist Marxism.

Foundation

It was founded in 1955 by the same committee on the occasion of wildcat strikes in the Detroit auto industry and the bus boycott against racial segregation, to act independently of political parties within social movements.

Political orientation

Geared towards the humanistic Marxism of Raya Dunayevskaya, the philosophical writings of Karl Marx and Hegel, persecuted News & Letters an anti-capitalist, anti-racist and feminist politics. Totalitarianism critical condemnation of Stalinism and capitalism, as well as any religious fundamentalism and nationalism. The co-founder Raya Dunayevskaya had " turned away from Trotskyism and shifted its focus towards liberation movements in the Third World, minorities, from party communism and trade unions independent workers' movements."
