Nexhat Daci

Nexhat Daci (* 1944 in Bujanovac ) is a politician of Kosovo.

Life

Nexhat Daci was born in the predominantly Albanian- populated southern Serbian Presevo on the border with Macedonia. He worked before his political career as a chemistry professor at the University of Prishtina. Nexhat Daci had held the office of President of the Parliament and took over temporarily the post of President of Kosovo, after the death of Ibrahim Rugova. He held the office from 21 January to 10 February 2006.

Until the end of 2006 Nexhat Daci also held the chairmanship of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK ). However, after internal stresses he lost office in December 2006, the then incumbent President Fatmir Sejdiu of Kosovo. In early 2007 after the split of the LDK established, among other things Nexhat Daci a new party, the Democratic League. He was also elected chairman of the party.
