NGC 2174

NGC 2174 is an H II emission nebula in the constellation Orion, which is about 6,400 light-years away from Earth. NGC 2174 was discovered on February 6, 1877 by the French astronomer Édouard Jean -Marie Stephan.

The size of the nebula is about 40 arc minutes. The diameter is 75 light years. He is also known as monkey head nebula, because he looks like the head of a macaque monkeys.
