NGC 3521
NGC 3521 is a spiral galaxy, which is about 30 to 35 million light-years away from Earth. NGC 3521 corresponds to the classification by the Hubble sequence to a galaxy - type SABbc. Due to the irregular halos is assumed that a collision has occurred with another galaxy.
The long spiral arms are interspersed irregularly and with gaps, thereby showing a flaky appearance.
The galaxy was discovered on 22 February 1784 by the German - British astronomer William Herschel.
