NGC 5247 is a barred spiral galaxy of type SBBC and is located in the constellation Virgo. The galaxy has an angular extent of 5.6 '× 4.9 ' and an apparent brightness of 9.9 mag. It was discovered on 17 February 1785 by William Herschel.
