NGC 6752

NGC 6752 is the name of a globular cluster in the constellation Peacock, whose discovery is reported in the year 1826 by the astronomer James Dunlop in the New General Catalogue. NGC 6752 has an apparent magnitude of 5.4 mag and has an angular diameter of 20 '. It is thus after 47 Tucanae and Omega Centauri the brightest appearing globular clusters. The cluster has 160,000 times the mass of the Sun and a core diameter of 2.7 light-years; its age is estimated to be 13.8 billion years, which is the age of the universe.

A study of the star cluster with the Hubble Space Telescope indicates the fact that 10% -38 % of the stars form a binary system in the center. At NGC 6752 showed a study of the stellar evolution by means of Ultraviolet observations that, of the more than 100,000 stars located 355 at a stage where they reach more than 30,000 Kelvin surface temperature.
