Nguyen Khanh

Nguyễn Khánh ( born November 8, 1927 in the province of Vinh Trà; † January 11, 2013 in San Jose ( California)) was a South Vietnamese general and politician.

1963 Nguyễn Khánh member of the military junta, the President Ngo Dinh Diem was rushed. On August 16, 1964, he led a bloodless coup against Dương Văn Minh, which he imputed neutralist tendencies. Although Nguyễn Khánh was choose by the Vietnamese Revolutionary Phan Khắc Sửu as President on 26 September 1964, he remained as commander in chief of the armed forces of actual rulers. In February 1965 he was ousted by a military coup led by Nguyễn Văn Thieu and Nguyen Cao Kỳ. Nguyễn Khánh then went as ambassador to France and settled in 1977 in the USA over.

On 1 January 2005 Nguyễn Khánh was appointed head of state of the so-called Government of Free Vietnam, an anti - communist organization in Little Saigon, Westminster, California, United States.
