Nguyễn Thị Bình

Nguyen Thi Binh ( Nguyen Thi Binh, born May 26, 1927 as Nguyễn Châu Sa Sa Đéc district in the province of Dong Thap ) is a Vietnamese teacher and politician. She has been involved in the peace negotiations in the Vietnam War and since 1992 has been Vietnam's Vice President.

Life

Already from 1951 to 1953 she was imprisoned by the French colonial power because of their activities in Chi Hoa ( Saigon). It was from 1969 known as the Foreign Minister of the Provisional ( underground ) government for South Vietnam world, as she was preparing peace talks with the U.S. and led. Among other things, these negotiations reached 1973, the Armistice Agreement of Paris (January 27, 1973, Lê Đức Thọ for North Vietnam and Henry Kissinger for the United States). After that, she was Minister of Education of the reunited country. Since March 2009, she is also committed to the newly formed Russell Tribunal on Palestine question.
