Nh. Dini

Nh. Dini (* February 29, 1936 in Semarang, Jawa Tengah as Nurhayati Sri Hardini ) is an Indonesian writer.

Life

Already in his early childhood was awakened Dinis interest in storytelling through in her family oral tradition traditional Indonesian legends and performances by traveling theater companies. When her father died in the Junior High School in 1950 shortly before her move, she began to process their feelings with the writing of the first short stories.

As a teenager, she wrote poems and texts published it smaller magazines and their readings were broadcast on the radio station Radio Republik Indonesia.

In 1956 she moved to Jakarta and worked in the coming years full time as a flight attendant for the airline Garuda Indonesia. In Jakarta, she was given access to the at that time still very much male-dominated literary scene of the city. The writer Ajip Rosidi with which they should connect a lifelong friendship, she took part in literary discussions and conferences.

National notoriety she gained in 1956 with the short story Dua Dunia ( Two Worlds ) in 1960 and published short story Hati yang damai ( A peaceful heart).

In 1960, she married French diplomat Yves Coffin, with whom she lived in the next two decades in Japan, Cambodia, the Philippines, the United States and France. 1961, the daughter of Marie -Claire Lintang and 1967 the son of Pierre -Louis Padang aka Pierre Coffin was born.

Your 1973 published novel Pada Sebuah Kapal ( on a boat ) became a bestseller. These were followed by La Barka (1975 ), Keberangkatan (1977) and Namaku Hiroko (1979). Between 1978 and 2003 she published an autobiographical series " memorable stories " Rangkaian Cerita Kenangan.

While her husband in 1977 served as Consul General in Detroit, Dini is separated from her husband and moved back to Paris. The marriage was divorced in 1984.

From 1980 Dini lived again in Indonesia and settled in Kampung Sekayu, Semarang, down. In 1986, she founded the Children's Library Pondok Baca Nh.Dini.

She has written a comprehensive biography of the poet Amir Hamzah Indonesian, which first appeared in 1981. Besides originated short story volumes as the Tuileries ( 1982), and novels such as orang -orang Tran ( 1985) and Jalan Bandungan (1989).

In 2003 she was awarded the S.E.A. Write Award.
