NHK Symphony Orchestra

The NHK Symphony Orchestra (Japanese NHK NHK Kogyo Gakudan交响 楽 団) in Tokyo is a Japanese symphony orchestra. It has been called New Symphony Orchestra (新 交响 楽 団, Shin Kogyo Gakudan ) founded on October 5, 1926 and was Japan's first professional symphony orchestra, founded by Konoe Hidemaro, who headed it until 1935. Later the name was changed in Japanese Symphony Orchestra and 1951 in return for financial support from NHK in its present name. In the same year, the orchestra was awarded the Asahi Prize.

Vladimir Ashkenazy and Charles Dutoit were the music directors. Wolfgang Sawallisch was honored as " Laureatehrendirigent ".
