Niall Tóibín

Niall Tóibín ( born November 21, 1929 in Cork, Ireland) is an Irish comedian and actor.

Tóibín grew up in Bishop's Field, on the northern edge of his birth city of Cork in a family where the only Irish was spoken. After leaving school in the North Monastery, he left Cork and worked from January 1947 in Dublin.

He began in the 1950s with the acting and spent 15 years with the "Radio Éireann Players".

His acting work in film and television includes over four decades. In the 1970s he played in Ryan's Daughter ( Ryan 's Daughter ) and Bracken. The 1980s brought The Irish R. M. Caught in a Free State and forth. Roles in other films he starred in The journalist (Veronica Guerin ), Ballykissangel, Far and Away ( Far and Away ) and The Nephew (The Nephew ). Tóibín also worked in radio, such as in a guest appearance in the BBC Radio 4 series Baldi.

In 1973 Tóibín was honored for his performance in the RTÉ comedy series If The Cap Fits with the Jacob 's Award.

Today Tóibín commutes back and forth between New York and his native Dublin and forth. Father of five and six-time grandfather was married from 1957 until her death in 2001 with Judy Kenny.
