Nicaenetus of Samos

Nikainetos (Greek Νικαίνετος ) from Samos or Abdera in Thrace was a Greek poet, who worked in the second half of the 3rd century BC.

Of his works, only fragments survive. Is known:

  • Lýrkos, written in hexameters. Housed in a preserved fragment is about Caunos, the founder of the city, fleeing from the lustful desire of his sister Byblis
  • Probably influenced catalog of women from the Eoien Hesiod
