Nicky Little

Nick Tyrone " Nicky " Little ( * September 13, 1976 in Tokoroa, New Zealand ) is a Fijian rugby union player who is used to the position of the connector. He is active in the Fijian national team and the English club Bristol Rugby. He scored the most international appearances and the most points for Fiji.

Career

Little was the son of a Fidschianers and Māori New Zealand to the world. At age 19 he joined the Canterbury Rugby Football Union, who later played for Waikato and North Harbour, before he went to England to Sale Sharks in 1999. Even there it did not keep him long and so he first went to Wales for Pontypridd RFC, then, to go to the U.S. Dax from France to England, where he played three years for the Saracens.

In 1996, Little his international debut when Fiji came to South Africa. Since then he has developed into a reliable kicker and is at the core of the national team of Fiji. He participated in the 1999 World Championships, where he scored 38 points, which reached up to the repechage, where one was inferior to England. In the 2003 World Cup, he was able to increase its performance on 45 points, but also could not prevent the Vorrundenaus.

The culmination of his career came at the World Championships in France, where it succeeded in Fiji, off the favorite Welsh and move into the quarter-finals. He scored at the 38:34 win 18 points, but was injured shortly before the end of the game. Due to this injury he could not compete against the eventual champions South Africa. Prior to and following the victory against Wales Little caused a stir when he called in several interviews the victory of his team as a success against modern rugby. He was referring to the discrepancy between low earners and the players who play for example in the leagues in England or France. He criticized the fact that it too was about money and technical finesse and not to use, and passion.

In 2009, Little moved back to England, his new club 's Bath. He was hired as a replacement for the injured player Butch James and received a one-year contract.
