Niclas Hävelid

Niclas Hävelid (born 12 April 1973 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who was active in the Swedish Elitserien, as well as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Atlanta Thrashers in the National Hockey League during his career for the AIK and Linköpings HC. Since his career end in April 2013 he works as a coach.

Career

In the 1991/92 season Niclas Hävelid began his career in professional hockey with AIK Solna. Until 1998, the defender played a total of seven years with AIK. In the 1998/99 season at Premier League rivals Malmö Redhawks him the breakthrough with 22 scorer points, including ten goals, which was a personal high score for him. During the lockout Hävelid played for Södertälje SK in his native Sweden and scored four points in 46 games (2 goals, 2 assists). With Södertälje he reached the semifinals in the domestic league. After the resumption of gaming operations in the NHL, he returned to the Thrashers. Due to its performance in the NHL 2005/2006 season, the Swede the Dan Snyder Memorial Award, an award conferred internally the Thrashers won for the first time in his career.
