Nicol Williamson

Nicol Williamson ( born September 14, 1938 in Hamilton, Scotland, † December 16, 2011 in Amsterdam, Netherlands ) was an English actor in film, television and theater.

Life

Williamson began his acting career in 1960 at the theater in Cambridge and worked on stage in London later. He became one of the leading actors in Shakespeare plays, including Macbeth and Hamlet. In the 1960s, first in film roles followed. The famous Hamlet 's production of 1969 at the Roundhouse Theatre was later also listed in New York and made ​​into a film directed by Tony Richardson. In the 1970s and 1980s, he had greater exposure to English and American films; he starred alongside Sean Connery in Richard Lester's Robin Hood film Robin and Marian the Little John or 1979, the main role as a double agent in Otto Preminger's last film, The Human Factor. Nicol Williamson was married from 1971 to 1977 to actress Jill Townsend.
