Nicolas Métru

Nicolas Metru (also: Metru; * about 1610 in Bar- sur -Aube, † 1668 in Paris) was a French composer and organist.

Nicolas Metru lived from 1631 in Paris and was from 1642 to 1652 organist of the parish of Saint- Nicolas-des -Champs in Paris. He was also " maître de musique " with the Jesuits as the successor of Annibal Gantez (c. 1600 - after 1668). Jean Baptiste Lully studied under Metru theory of composition, as well as François Couperin.

Of his works 3 Sammlelbände with " Airs et Fantaisies " are known for two viols, the first volume appeared in 1628, the third and final volume 1661. Moreover, appeared at the Publisher Ballard in Paris several " Airs de Cour " in collections with other composers.
