Nicolas Ruwet

Nicolas Ruwet ( born December 31, 1932 in Saive, Blegny; † 14 November 2001 in Paris) was a French linguist and Romance Belgian origin.

Life and work

Ruwet studied in Liège and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he came into contact with the generative grammar. He searched first in Belgium, then as a professor at the University of Paris VIII, founded in 1971

Ruwet was also musikologisch competent.
