Nicolay de Caveri

Nicolo de Caveri was a Genoese cartographer. For the spelling of different variants are used as de Nicolay Caveri, Nicolay Canerio, Nicolo Canerio, Nicolaus de Caveri, Nicolaus de Caverio, Nicholas de Caveri, or Nicolai de Caveri. All are based on different interpretations of the signature that is on the back of the card created by that person. The exact life data of this mapper are not known. Since the card is dated to the period 1503-1505, it is expected from a birth in the 15th and a decease in the 16th century.

Said, referred to here as Caveri card work is regarded as a primary source of the world map of Martin Waldseemüller in the year 1507.
