Nicoletta (singer)

Nicoletta (* April 11, 1944 in Thonon- les- Bains as Nicole Fernande Grisoni - Chappuis ) is a French chanteuse. Career

Nicole Grisoni studied at the School of Fine Art in Lyon. Later she went to Paris to work as a DJ. At the same time she also worked on her own songs and music productions. In 1966 appeared under the stage name Nicoletta their debut single entitled L' Homme à la Moto. Thus began the long association with Barclay Records, one of the then most influential French record companies. The breakthrough in the French show business succeeded Nicoletta a year later with the single La musique. An even bigger success followed in 1968 with Il Est Mort le Soleil. Ray Charles took the song in the same year for his album A Portrait of Ray, in English ( The Sun Died ) on. Jazz and soul greats such as Betty Carter, Gene Chandler and Shirley Horn took turn to versions.

1969 Nicoletta sang for the film with Jeff Alain Delon the theme song of the same name. Almost at the same time she had with Ma vie c'est un manège another top hit whose success was surpassed in 1971 by Mamy Blue (original by Joel Daydé ). This song is heavily influenced by gospel, a genre, of Nicoletta devoted himself again and again in the course of their career. The accompanying album Visages, recorded with the rock group Zoo, contains, among other songs by Leo Ferré ( Dieu est nègre ), Julien Clerc (La promeneuse ) and Gilbert Becaud (La solitude n'existe ça pas). (1976 ) and Broadway ( 1978), she devoted herself like many of her colleagues of the then-popular disco music. In the late 1970s ended their cooperation with the record company Barclay. The success of their panels abated. With Idées noires, a duet with Bernard Lavilliers celebrated Nicoletta 1983, a short-term comeback and their last major hit. After many years without a new album was released in 1995, the few successful works J'attends, J'apprends. The following year, she had better luck with The Gospel Voices, a CD that paid homage to her love for gospel music. A subsequent tour with 180 dates in France, Switzerland, Belgium and even Japan was also successful. Numerous compilations of its old recordings ensured in the following years that the interest in Nicoletta's music rise again.

2002, the participants of the talent show Star Academy took on a cover of Nicoletta's first success La Musique and were therefore one No. 1 on the French charts. Still took another four years until Nicoletta 2006, a new album titled Le rendez -vous recorded. Included are well-known jazz standards like Summertime or Georgia On My Mind, but also new songs written by artists such as Bernard Lavilliers Patrick Eudeline or Manu Chao. End of 2008, Nicoletta published her autobiography La maison d' en face and celebrated the following year its 40th anniversary on stage with an extended tour of France.

Nicoletta is married to the Swiss jeweler Patrick Chappuis. Their son Alexandre was born in 1979.
