Nicu Constantin

Nicu Constantin ( born July 31, 1939 in Eforie Sud; † 15 September 2009 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian actor.

Life

Constantin was born in the Romanian coastal town in the province of Sud Eforie Constanta. He studied at the University of the civilian Navy, cursurile Liceului de Marina, in Constanta and the University of the Arts, the scoala populara de Arte, in Bucharest.

He was one of the legendary theater stars on Comedy Theatre Teatrul de Revista Constantin Tănase in Bucharest, where he was between 1960 and 2000 in over 9000 performances on stage. Between 1979 and 1982 he was also an actor at the National Operetta Theatre, the Teatrul Naţional de Opereta " Ion Dacian ", active in Bucharest.

Constantin played in nearly 30 films and worked throughout his career in over 300 television shows and over 600 radio broadcasts. He was considered the Jerry Lewis Romania.

In 2000, Constantin presented under the title Ochelarii miraculoşi before his autobiography.

For his artistic work Constantin was awarded the State Prize for Cultural I. class. In 2001 he was made ​​an honorary citizen of Eforie Sud. Constantin received at the Romanian gala event UNITER in 2005 the prize in recognition of his work as a stage actor and 2006 the award for his life's work.

Due to acute respiratory problems since May 2009, Constantin was hospitalized in intensive care treatment in the military hospital of Bucharest. There he died at age 70 of heart failure and respiratory arrest.

Constantin was buried on September 19, 2009 following a funeral at the cemetery of his hometown Eforie Sud in the presence of hundreds of people who spontaneously applauded at his grave.
