The Niederalpl ( summit 1221 m above sea level. A. ) is a street pass and place in the Miirzsteg Alps in Styria.

Location and landscape

The national road 113 Niederalplstraße connects Miirzsteg on the Dobrein (municipality Miirzsteg ) with the town of Wegscheid about Aschbach (both community Gußwerk ), and thus Muerztal and Salzatal and Mariazell. The pass was until 2012 the border between the districts Miirzzuschlag and Bruck an der Mur. The pass connects the Veitschalpe in the south with Tonio Alpe in the north.

Niederalpl is town in the municipality in the district of Bruck- Miirzsteg Miirzzuschlag and district in the municipality of Aschbach Gußwerk in the same district. The Miirzsteg part is as rotting on 921 m above sea level. A. are located on the eastern ramp of the passport, including the houses of the pass and the Wetterinalm, west a few scattered houses on the old pass road ( Old Niederalplstraße ) and Dürrenwald trench 961 m above sea level. A. At the summit there are three restaurants; two of which are open all year.

History

In past centuries, was mined in the area of the mountain pass ore; an old tunnel testifies to this time.

Tourism

In winter a chair lift and three ski lifts and a baby lift available at approximately 12 kilometers of slopes. The ski area is Niederalpl since 1971 and has snowmaking equipment and a snowmaking pond. The Niederalpl is the starting point for hikes to the High Veitsch ( about Sohlenalm ) and the Tonion ( about Wetterin and Mr. floor ) and especially an important station on the north-south distance trail 05 between Mariazell and high Schwab. In the summer pilgrimage routes lead directly over the pass and ski slopes. On Almboden located on 1339 meters above sea level, a farmed in the summer Sennerhutte and a farmed in the winter ski hut. The area east of the pass (municipality Miirzsteg ) is part of the Natural Park Mürzer Oberland.
