In the Samtgemeinde Nienstädt from the Lower Saxony district of Schaumburg, four communities have joined together to do their administrative business. It has its headquarters in the central municipality Helpsen.

Samtgemeinderat
On 11 September 2011, a new Samtgemeinderat was chosen:
- SPD: 15 seats
- CDU: 7 seats
- Green: 4 seats
Mayor
As the successor of age- retired Rolf Harmening (SPD ), the previous first Samtgemeinderat Ditmar Köritz (SPD ) was elected on 11 September 2011 with 81.3 % of votes cast. Köritz was the only candidate.
Finances
In the financial regulation for the financial year 2013, the ordinary income and expenses were set at each ~ 5.9 million euros in earnings budget. The financial budget and withdrawals of each ~ 6.1 million euros are expected. On Payments for investing activities 346 800 euros are provided. For this purpose, loans amounting to 190,000 euros are needed.
